“Kiss the Son, lest He be angry!”
The world is saturated with fatherlessness! This is the breaking of the bonds of identity and affirmation of who we are as children. Our core need is being identified as: “My beloved son!” or “My beloved daughter!” Our sense of wellbeing is innate in our identity, being acknowledged and nourished in love, causes us to flourish and grow in security and maturity as a man or woman!
Often, feeling rejected, neglected or abandoned by a father, sons turn in disappointment or anger from desiring to please or be pleasing with their fathers, to other men for identity! Others, who themselves are looking for identity. We join them in becoming what we would call self-made-men! We become a conglomerate of what we admire in others, taking what we perceive as admirable, we identify and at least try to conform to those ideal images or idols!
Today idols come in all forms. We gather images of what we desire, shaping our self-image from sports; the wealthy; even pornography or cage-fighting, TV heroes or individuals, who in real life are less than admirable. However, those idols or ideals all disappoint us, as we discover they are like us, broken! They disappoint us when we discover their feet are clay, like ours!
We ultimately ask; what is truth? What is my true identity? But the truth, our true Image is imprinted in us: Father/Son Image-is only a Breath away!
7“I will declare the decree: The Lord has said to Me, ‘You are My Son, today I have begotten You. 8Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations for Your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for Your possession.’”
11Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
12Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish in the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him. Psalm 2.
God declares of Jesus Christ: “You are My Son!”
God says: “Ask Me! I will give you nations and the ends of the earth!”
God says: “Kiss the Son! Lest He be angry!”
What does it mean: “Kiss the son least he be angry!?”
Who is angry-ABBA, at us, for not loving His Son-Jesus?
Who is angry-JESUS for having given all of Himself for us, and we despise and reject Him?
Who is angry-you, because you were a son, unloved? Neither kissed, nor spoken to in love, or cared for by your father?
Maybe this is why most men have buried-deep-anger! We feel the anger of injustice! We live in pain of being a unloved, unaffirmed, uncared for son by our natural father, who have deeply disappointed us! When some small thing happens, an unbottled ager or rage of disappointments, again, comes rushing up, and lashing out? Ugh!
Maybe you experienced not being loved by your father! So many indescribable things have happened; being kicked; slapped, called abusive names, hard discipline beyond reason…!
Did you experience discipline more of vented anger, then love to train you up as a son! Seem more like vented anger? “I am sorry, that happen!”
Maybe, you were rejected after you gave everything you had for love sake-and were kicked in the teeth? Or what you did for love, was misunderstood? Or what you did as pearls of love, were cast in the mud? Serious Pain? Anger? Rejection?
OurTrueIdentity is as a son, man, and father.OurImprinted Image, our Imprinter, is a Breath away! Father God:
“God is Spirit, and those who worship Him, must worship Him in Spirit and Truth!” John 4.
GOD has names He Desires to be called and you to be called:
- GOD Desires you to know Him as: “ABBA–Father!”
- GOD Desires you to be known as: “My beloved son!”
Life came from the Breath of God, breathed into Adam, whereby he became a living soul!
GOD breathed into His disciples, like a mighty wind from heaven, and they were transformed into Adopted-Sons of God! Act 2; Romans 8.
“GOD-kisses; loves His son!” In the heart of every man is the cry for God’s love! Luke 15.
Joined in affirmation with love of God! God sings over His sons with amazing beauty:
17“The Lord your God… will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3.
What an amazing picture of ABBA/Son love! We were created in the image of God; We were created for love.
8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 1 John 4.
“16 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.” 1 John 4:16.
Men risk everything they have for love! Their self-image; family; carrier; reputations; to feel deep-down-love, no matter where or how, seeking to fill the void. We have a deep need to be loved, affirmed; accepted; forgiven; healed and freed from our soul pain! This soul pain, even childhood pain from disappointments, now turns in anger to fight for what was rightfully our, for what was never given!
Some say, “kissing is not in our culture,” between fathers and sons. In other cultures, kissing is normal, and each culture has its own meanings! Here we are talking of being loved, affirmed, secured in ABBA-Love!
There is a story of a rebel son who leaves home, losses everything, and became destitute! Will his father love him now? What do you think of me now-dad? He expects his father at best to hire him back as a servant back on the farm? Or maybe to receive him back home as a second-class family member, treated like an unwanted failure? How painful? Luke 15.
The young man, arrives back home broken and stunned to see his father running toward him, hugging and kissing him! With joy the father brings him back home safely to himself, and celebrates his son return with hugs, kiss, cloths, shoes, ring and party; Like a fantasy-unreal!
The very thought of your father kissing you may seem strange or make you feel uneasy! Yet, there is something so affirming of such a kind of love! Cultures and even families are built on broken relationships, corruption and wars of all kinds. To think of hugging or kissing fathers and sons is offensive, even strange!
Truth: The thought that father and sons don’t want to hug and love each other is strange! In fact, the Bible calls it a curse when fathers and sons don’t love each other. They don’t receive love, affirmation, nor honor from each other is a curse on any culture, family, or individual! Malachi 4.
Strangely; the prisons are full of men who hate their fathers! Who, and where are the fathers? How did their fathers not express love, affirmation, encouragement? In many cases mothers bore the weight of raising their sons! How could a son not be angry?
There are cultures where men have multiple wives, other cultures, one at a time. What is terrible to experience, is when your mother is not that favorite wife! That means, you do not get the nice gifts your father gives to his favorite wife and her sons. Those breaches in relationships, those wounds of the heart, are more than can be carry, and the broken heart responds by hardening, defiance and anger!
The soul of a man, needs to know: “My Father loves me and is proud of me!”
When growing up as a child, I never heard words of affirmation from teacher, religious leader, or parents. Worse, I was not the best student in school, so I really struggled to keep myself in school, despite my peers and adults around me.
I was forty years old, when I heard God speak to me this strange word: “Son!”
My body shook, as that word reverberated through my being! “Son!” I had never been called that by my parents! My parents always “Mark!”
That word caused a powerful trembling in me, as “Son” came with is an unexpected Identity I never knew I needed!
- I was a “son” of my father: “Man!” Gender appreciation!
My father identified me with himself!
“Like Father-like son!” Not in bad way, but in affirming way!
- I was in a Relationship with “Father!”
For the first time I saw myself in relationship with God as “My Father” and I was not just His servant; “His go-to-boy!” Suddenly I saw God was my ABBA! And, ABBA acknowledged me as His own son! Meaning: don’t mess with him, he is Mine! God identifies Himself with me-in Father/Son-gender appreciating way, without shame, fear, guilt!
We don’t know what we are missing until we discover it, by profound revelation!
10 For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. 11 For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren, …” Hebrews 2.
God is not ashamed to call us: “Sons!”
Jesus is not ashamed to call us: “Brothers!”
This is the core of the Gospel of Jesus-He came to save us from our sins, deliver us from evil, and give us of His Holy Spirit-making us brothers and sons of God. God calls us “sons” by our identity with God, as our Heavenly Father-ABBA. Jesus is called Son uniquely, as He was God in the flesh, and today is sitting at the right hand of The Father in heaven!
“12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.” Romans 8.
12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. John 1.
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. John 3.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1John 1.
21 When… Jesus also was baptized; and while He prayed, the heaven was opened. 22 And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.” Luke 3.
Prayer: “Jesus Come! Save me, forgive me of my sins, anger, rebellion against God and my earthly father! Free and heal me my broken spirit! Fill me with the Love I need so much! Open my ears to hear You say to Me: “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.”
Manifest Your love to me more and in greater ways in JESUS!
JESUS-I receive Your Love, Your Forgiveness, Your Image unveiled in me! Amen!
Take a moment; Lean back in your chair-take a deep breath! PRAY:
J “JESUS Come! Save me! I repent of sinful responses against myself, father, and God!”
J “I Receive Your Love and Affection of My Heaven Father: ABBA!”
J “Clean me! Heal my heart! Fill me with fire of Your Love!”
